ORDER LD-2005-0001, In the Matter of Gary H. Reiner A certified copy of the jury verdict form in United States v. Gary H. Reiner et al has been filed with the court establishing that Gary H. Reiner was convicted, after a jury trial, of four felonies in a federal indictment. The four felonies constitute “serious crimes” as defined by Supreme Court Rule 37(9)(b). The court finds that Mr. Reiner's immediate suspension is necessary to protect the public and to preserve the integrity of the legal profession. See Rule 37(16)(f). Accordingly, it is hereby ordered that: (1) In accordance with Rule 37(9)(a), Gary H. Reiner is immediately suspended from the practice of law in New Hampshire until further order of this court; (2) Copies of this order and of the indictment shall be served on Mr. Reiner and his counsel by first class mail; (3) Mr. Reiner may show cause on or before ten days from the date of service why the suspension should be lifted and why he should not be assessed all expenses that may be incurred in the investigation and prosecution of this matter; and (4) This matter is referred to the Professional Conduct Committee for further proceedings in accordance with Rule 37(9)(d). In Case No. LD-2005-0001, In the Matter of Gary H. Reiner, the court on February 27, 2006, issued the following order: On October 21, 2005, the court issued an order immediately suspending Gary H. Reiner from the practice of law in New Hampshire. The order permitted Attorney Reiner to show cause within 10 days of receipt of the order why the suspension should be lifted. No response was filed by Attorney Reiner within this period. By letter dated February 7, 2006, Attorney Reiner filed with this court a copy of a response that he filed to a show cause order issued by the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, and he requested that the court accept the response as a late response to the October 21, 2005 order. Attorney Reiner’s request that the court accept his response as a late response to the October 21, 2005 order is denied. Attorney Reiner remains suspended pending further order of this court.
