49-C:17 Appointment of City Manager; Qualification; Removal. –
Copy linkThe city council shall appoint as city manager for an indefinite term, and fix the salary of, a qualified person who receives the votes of at least a majority of the council. The first city council elected under this charter shall appoint a manager within 6 months after the effective date of the charter. The city manager shall be chosen solely on the basis of executive and administrative qualifications, but need not be a resident of the city or the state at the time of appointment.
Copy linkThe charter shall provide a detailed procedure for removal, after notice and hearing, of the city manager. The action of the city council in removing a city manager shall be final.
